Exploring some shark shapes.

Quick little creature design. Not sure if I'm going to finish it, but I thought I'd post it because it's kind of a unique design.

Lovekill

In order to thrive in a creative industry, you have to create. As such, I give you the first concept of the "childrens book" that I will be illustrating, as well as writing for my personal project this year.

Love Kill*...

The story of a girl and her bird, killing the cancer within her father.

Maybe this will help me quit smoking. :)

Busy, Busy and Busier

Holy cow.. It's been a long few months, what with working 3 different jobs, being 2 months a part from my tablet (while it was being fixed out of province) and balancing a healthy social life.

All of that while trying to get my portfolio done has been a real challenge.

That being said, I'm not sure we can really grow unless we are being challenged.

I'm hoping that this blog post marks a passing of an era. An era which has been filled with self doubt, Insecurity in my direction and labor jobs :). This era is called the " art school admission portfolio season."
Never have I had to work so hard for something I didn't know for sure would give me something in return. Often discouraged, and still not certain that I will even be accepted, I can still look back at my considerable growth as an artist, only made possible through the sweat drenching pursuit of a dream.

I hope that in some small way this encourages any other starting artists in pursuit of a career in the entertainment industry.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

WIP - Cultic Grotesque.

This was the original design, with values and details added on top of the silhouette.
Original Thumbnail, blown up to create a silhouette.. Honestly, I knew it wasn't overly exciting, but sometimes I have a habit of adding to much detail to cover up bad anatomy. Therefore with this design, I wanted to focus on the simplicity of the gesture first, and then add on the design.

Anthony Jones / Robotpencil silhouette challenge.

Exact same process as the last few designs, only this time Anthony Jones created the silhouette for aspiring artists over top of. I saw some sort of bio mechanical Terran field medic, I guess. One of my better ones I think.. spent a lot of time and watched a lot of gumroads in the process of making this one.

Finished Silhouettes

This is another piece for my "Sheridan Bachelor of Game Design" admission portfolio.
I started off with 5 different silhouettes (usually there is a lot more, but I was actually very satisfied with the 5 that I started with) which through the process of adding value, I broke down  into  my favourite 3.
